Overall appearance:

Well to begin with, Jasper is not much to look at. He’s tall, gangly, skinny and extremely clumsy. He is self-conscious about his height and tends to slouch a lot, throwing him even more off balanced that he already is. Jasper has short cropped hair of a light chestnut brown with darker undertones to them that compliment his eyes. His eyes are light brown with honey-gold flecks closer to his pupils and black lining his irises. His eyes hold a sad, dull, or sometimes dreamy look in them but in any case, his hold a certain sort of depth.

Jasper is stick skinny, 6’1” with 155 pounds on him. He isn’t the most active or muscled guy out there, but see, that’s where his magic plays its part. He has long arms and legs, with small wrists and ankles and long, slender fingers. When he really smiles, he has a wide smile with a dimple on his right side.

Jasper looks very unorganized and unkempt almost every time you should see him. His hair sticks up all over his head, he eyes have dark circles or bags under them after a late night of learning something new or memorizing patterns. He is hardly ever seen in wizards robes unless on special occasions. He can sometimes be seen wearing square glasses with a black frame. He has a frail weak posture when he is just standing, but when walking or running he has a bouncy, springy gait.

to be understood, he just wants to find someone who shares the same interests as him, someone that can understand what it's like being in his position, growing up the way he had to.

hogwarts, this is the happiest memory he has had so far other than the birth of his little brother. getting the letter, just sort of sparked some sort of creativity in him. then getting sorted into Ravenclaw, there was actually a place where he fit in. his patronus takes on the form of an owl

Boggart:

the dark...yes, he is still afraid of the dark. put that with being in a confined space or being locked in a small room, and he will go berserk. the dark makes him feel like he is about to die or of being suffocated. as jasper likes to put it, 'it's like the whole universe is pushing down on you'.

Dementor:

this will always be burned into his mind, especially since he thinks it's his fault his brother died. after Mac's death, his mom started to have nervous breakdowns the older he got. one instance, he was fifteen years old and when he had gotten back from Hogwarts after his fifth year, his mother had a nervous breakdown in the middle of the train station. it wasn't embarrassing, it really scared Jasper because he has never seen his mother in this state before.

Amortentia:

strawberries - ever since he was a kid he loved the smell of strawberries, of course it helps that strawberries are his favorite fruit. His mom used to have a strawberry patch in her garden that she took exceptional care of.

peppermint - jasper has an obsession with anything mint, he likes that sharp, cool feeling you get after he’s brushed his teeth or after he has eaten a candy cane or a mint. It was also his mother’s favorite candy.

fresh cut grass - it reminds him of spring and summer. the days when he'd go out and play a game with his little brother every time he came home from Hogwarts. it reminds him of rebirth, of being able to start over fresh every now and then.

Strengths:

[x] learning - he loves to learn about things, mostly just things he already has an interest in and wants to learn more about. astronomy and ancient runes are his main interests.

[x] easy to get along with - though he is socially awkward and does not talk much, he is very likable in the sense that he doesn't do much to annoy people. he is also very good with children, he doesn't find it in his heart to scold little ones simply because they won't shut up or won't stop crying.

[x] soothing voice - he has a soft, flowy,smooth voice. sort of an in between from a deep voice and a high pitched voice. it makes him easy to have a conversation with when you get a chance to really bring him out of his shell.

[x] generally polite/understanding - yes he can seem immature at times, but you really can't blame a guy with a form of autism. he tries to not let that get in the way, if someone want's to talk or needs to talk, no matter how awkward it may be for him, you can talk to him and he'd try and help you out as best as he could.

Weaknesses

[x] communication - he has very disorganized thoughts and a very odd or eccentric way of speaking. often he stops in the middle of his sentence because he forgot what he was going to say.

[x] social interaction - he get's uncomfortable around very large groups of people he doesn't know very well. still, he is awkward around people he is close with.

[x] slightly introverted - he likes being alone more than what is normal, he is very shy, and he also believes that most won't understand what he's going through.

[x] flirting/dating - he can't read body language very well, so he won't get the hint that someone has an interest in him physically/sexually. girl's in general make him more nervous.

Overall Personality:

Asperger’s Syndrome, it’s a type of autism very noticeable in males who have it. Because Jasper has AS he doesn’t understand nonverbal communication quite well, he tends to take things literally than what was meant. He has odd or eccentric behaviors and speech patterns. Sometimes when Jasper talks or babbles, the tone can dip down, or rise up. His behaviors would include a certain ritual, he get’s up in the morning, he HAS to have his morning cup of coffee otherwise he is unbalanced and is very out of it. He also has very strange, fixations. He is addicted to peppermints, he loves the smell and the taste or feel after he has eaten one. He also has a peculiar habit to climb somewhere high sometime around the midnight hours to study the stars.

He doesn’t get along great in large groups of people he doesn’t know well, sometimes too large of a group triggers panic attacks. Around large groups of people or when forced into a social interaction, he gets nervous and tends to babble about useless facts no one really cares for. He is introverted, he doesn’t tell people how he is feeling or anything about his life. He is a generally quiet person and is quiet painfully shy and awkward.

One thing to understand about him is that he is a mommy’s boy. He loves his mom to death and would give up anything for her, even if he had to give up his magic. He is very skilled in linguistics, has a photographic memory, and never wants to stop learning anything he can. He can seem very immature, rude, and/or insensitive at times, this is because he does not know how to react or talk to another. When you have a conversation with him, you will find he doesn’t talk much about other people and is centered around himself, this makes him look egotistical.

Jasper tends to be impulsive with his decisions, which would explain his often lack of common sense. He has a hard time feeling empathy towards others, though he tries sometimes to focus more on other people than himself. Jasper has the best intentions in mind, he doesn’t mean to hurt or offend anyone on purpose, but there are times where he loses it, he isn’t perfect you know. He is unsure of himself and his abilities, he doubts all the good he can do if he tried.

Jasper doesn’t trust very many people, he's become withdrawn because of the guilt he feels about his brother. Because of this, he doesn’t have very many friends except for his cat Nala and a few members from the order. Jasper’s biggest fears would be being afraid of the dark, confined spaces, being locked in small rooms. He also tends to work quite well under pressure, though not all the time.

History:

before hogwarts

Eliza Jane and Benjamin Cohen met one fall in the town of Oxford, England. Eliza Jane was studying 15 Century Literature at the time while Benjamin was studying law at a university across the street. It was no love at first site for the two, it was simply awkward for the two of them since they were so used to sticking their noses in all kinds of books. Gradually, the two began to feel more comfortable around each other which then led to them slowly, falling in love. One day Eliza found out that she was pregnant with Benjamin's son. The two decided it was time to get married, seven months later, Jasper was born. They decided to name him after Eliza's father and Benjamin's grandfather, Jasper meant 'treasure holder' for some reason, it meant a lot to him [jasper] that he was named after his grandpa, he never got to know him.

Jasper grew up as normal as he could possibly be able to, it was difficult at times since his father was never around that much and his mother was very focused on her literature. His family had some religious conflicts as well, Eliza Jane's family was raised as devout Christians while Benjamin's family were agnostic, they didn't really practice much at all. Once Jasper got into regular school, it became apparent he didn't get along with the other children. He would always sit by himself in class or on the playground. The teachers and his parents hoped it was only him being a kid, so they waited to see if he'd grow out of it. He never did and at the age of 8 he was said to have Asperger's Syndrome. This greatly affected Jasper in the long run since Eliza pulled him out of school to be taught at home where kids wouldn't be able to hurt him if they found out about his syndrome. She also had another reason behind it since Jasper's little 'accidents' were becoming more frequent.

Mackenzie was born eight years after Jasper. At first Jasper did not like having a new little one around the house, I mean, he was so used to having his mother all to himself, but within the first year he got used to it. Jasper and Mac didn't spend very much time together before Jasper was sent the letter from Hogwarts. He was always oblivious to the things he made 'accidentally' happen. Well this was the next best thing in his life, he got to thinking maybe he could actually make friends.

hogwarts life: Years 1 & 2

Jasper thoroughly enjoyed his first year at Hogwarts, he especially liked the flying lessons. His best memory from Hogwarts would be the first night. He had a good experience on the train ride where he found out about moving pictures and all the sweets on the cart, but that was nothing compared to the sorting ceremony. Jasper being Jasper had to find out about everything related to Hogwarts.He had become fixated since he had gotten the letter. The doors to the great hall were bigger than he could imagine, especially since he was a scrawny little thing then. Once the doors opened it was some other place to him, the ceiling looked exactly like the night sky, and the tables glimmered with gold. He was in such a trance that he didn't hear the sorting hat call him until someone pushed him forward and he tripped over his feet and face planted into the stone floor. Too excited he just bounced back up and almost ran to the stool. Being sorted into Ravenclaw gave him hope that he wouldn't always be this awkward, frail, scrawny little thing anymore, he could maybe actually have some friends to hang out with and do all the thing she never got to do back home.

Unfortunately Year one was not the year he'd make friends and all that fun stuff. People tended to avoid such a weird muggle born. Of course no one knew about his syndrome and no one even knew that it was very much inherited from his dad's side. He came off as very rude and there were teachers who thought him irritating and such. Jasper's second year went very much the same way.

summer & hogwarts: year 3

Jasper came home after his second year in a sour mood. He was a bit depressed and disheartened that everyone thought of him as a freak, unfit to be a wizard. Sure he was a clumsy thing, he didn't enjoy quidditch along with the rest of the school and he was always seen with his nose in a book, but truth of the matter was, he just didn't know how to react to kids no matter how much he wished he could.

His little brother sensing his displeasure as well as his sadness quickly tried to get Jasper in a better mood. Jasper only knows now that Mackenzie was trying to help him feel better and not all sad. Back then he didn't know, he was down right irritated with his brother's attempts to get him outside and play. One day he finally grew tired of it and gave in, the two got into a spat which ended with Jasper pushing Mackenzie into the street just as a car was racing down the street.

Jasper went to school that year in a very withdrawn state. He barely touched his food at breakfast or dinner, and he was no longer seen in the library like he so often was. This would be the year he made his first friend. Someone cared enough about what was eating Jasper, he was holding in all the guilt he felt all summer until he couldn't hold it in any longer. He told the person everything with maybe a few tears. Since that day, he has come to trust this person with his life. They were there for him when no one else was.

hogwarts: years 4 & 5
Jasper's fourth year went a lot better, especially with the privilege to go to Hogsmeade on the weekends. This year was otherwise uneventful. It was his fifth year when things began to change. He had a growth spurt the summer before and his mentality grew a bit more. He learned a lot more things especially since he was taking his O.W.L.s that year.

His fifth year was also the year a girl had caught his eye. Of course he was too chicken to ever ask her on a date or anything of the sort and just watched as other guys hung out with her and were involved with her romantically. He overall had a good year in his fifth, he didn't want to go home where he knew his father blamed him for Mackenzie's death and his mother had sunk into depression and had mentioned voices in her head.

It wasn't until he got past the barrier of the train station did he know how worse his mother's condition got. She had an nervous breakdown in the middle of the platform and kept yelling out gibberish. No, Jasper wouldn't say it was embarrassing, it scared him. He couldn't help but think to himself, this is what he had caused.

after hogwarts

Jasper's last two years at Hogwart's were just as uneventful as a majority of his years at Hogwarts. He passed his N.E.W.T exams without a problem to himself and moved on. He got a place of his own in the wizarding world preferring to separate himself from his painful, haunting past.
