Play-by: Bonnie Wright.
Overall appearance:
Standing at 5’5”, Ginny Weasley is the exact image of the typical “girl next door,” with soft and angelic looking facial features. Her skin is fair and smooth, with no visible signs of typical teen year blemishes. Splashes of freckles are also quite visible across her rosy cheeks and the bridge of her small, slightly turned up nose (the one part of her face that she finds revolting), which give the young woman a look of innocence. Her bright brown eyes are close set and almond shaped, and tend to reflect her emotions; when she is around people she loves and is happy, there is a glimmer of laughter and a certain glow reflecting inside of them that is not present when she is around those she dislikes. They light up when she's passionate about something, and grow dull when she's bored. Her eyelashes are long and dark, and enhance the colour of her eyes. Straight, white teeth are concealed behind full, pink lips when she smiles.
Ginny’s hair, like the rest of her family’s, is fiery red and falls just below her breasts; her mother always bothers her about getting it cut, but Ginny prefers it long. She usually wears it loosely draped over her shoulders in either a straight or slightly wavy style, though she does sometimes pin it back either in a ponytail or some other kind of hairstyle to keep it out of her face on hotter days. She usually wears her bangs swept to the right side of her oval-shaped face. No matter what she does with her hair, it always smells faintly of flowers, which is how most people know that she has entered a room. She is very petite, and has minimal curves and a strong posture. She is also very slender, and people tend to underestimate her strength because of her small build.
Though Ginny does not really see the point in make-up, she does use it on occasion, but does not take it to the extreme that some of her classmates do. She only uses enough to enhance her soft facial features. Now that she’s older, she has also developed new tastes in clothing, and her favourite outfits are usually made up of jeans, a sweater or tank top, and either sandals or sneakers depending on the weather. She does own a few skirts and dresses, though she isn’t as fond of them, and also owns some dress robes to wear to the occasional special event or party. Mostly, she just wears the mandatory Hogwarts uniform.

Erised: If she were to look in the Mirror of Erised, Ginny would no doubt see her fairytale adult life: handsome and loving husband, white picket fence, and of course, kids. Although she does feel a bit guilty sometimes for not having a more career oriented goal, Ginny can't help but grin like an idiot when she thinks about her future in that sort of light. She can't wait to be one of those doting mothers who gives her kids everything she couldn't have as a little girl.
Patronus: When she was first learning how to produce a patronus, Ginny could not produce anything more than a cloud of mist that hovered a few feet from the ground for a few seconds before disappearing into thin air. Now that she has practised more and gained more skill, her full-bodied patronus takes the shape of a horse, which expresses her desire to be wild and free and escape the sheltered life that she has always lived. Her best memory is the day that she got her Hogwarts letter, because it meant that she got to join her brothers at the school at last.
Boggart: In her younger years, Ginny’s boggart took the shape of Tom Riddle because of events that occurred in her first year at Hogwarts. Now that she is older, her boggart takes a form similar to that of her mother’s: the people she loves most, lifeless before her because she fears being left alone in the world, without anybody she loves.
Dementor: Ginny has two worst memories. The first is how she was possessed by Voldemort in her first year and almost died because of it. She has never really gotten over that, and doesn't think she ever truly will. The second is when her father was attacked while guarding the door to the Department of Mysteries. She was convinced that she'd lost him for good, and was overjoyed when she didn't.
Amortentia: Treacle tart, fresh parchment, vanilla, Harry's cologne, and freshly mown grass.

Likes:
- School - Hogwarts has given Ginny a chance to spread her wings and fly away from the extremely sheltered, protected life that she had prior to receiving her letter. It has given her an amazing experience and has helped her find some close, life-long friends.
- Her family and friends – Ginny wouldn’t be where she is today without her family and friends. They are the people who were always there for her, helping and encouraging her to always do her best, and are the people who have shaped her into the young woman she is now. Establishing some long-term friendships is one thing that Ginny enjoys very much, and one thing that comes pretty naturally to her since she’s so outgoing and friendly. Her family also means the world to her, and she likes spending time with them whenever she can.
- Charms - This is Ginny's favourite class and she also excels in it. Her wand is perfect for spell casting, and she loves the sense of accomplishment she feels every time she masters a new spell.
- Reading - For Ginny, books provide an excellent escape from the real world. She likes nothing better than to lose herself inside the pages of a good book, and often pictures herself inside the world going on there. Sometimes, she even likes that world better than she does her own.
- Traveling - Ginny's love of traveling began when her family took a trip to Egypt. For her, the trip was educational, interesting and all around enjoyable and that triggered her desire to explore even more places around the world.
- Animals - Ginny is most definitely an animal lover; she loves all creatures and is especially fond of her Arnold, her pet Pygmy Puff. Another thing that Ginny enjoys is being outdoors, among nature and goes outside as much as she possibly can. She likes nothing better than sitting against a tree, staring out onto the lake either reading a book, doing some homework, or simply just enjoying the sunshine and warmth that usually surround the castle grounds.
- Quidditch - Quidditch is probably Ginny’s biggest form of entertainment, and takes every opportunity to play. In her sixth year, she tried out for the Gryffindor team as Chaser, and made it through. She held the position for the entire season, though she did substitute as Seeker when team Captain, Harry Potter, was unable to play, and helped Gryffindor win the Quidditch Cup that year. She doesn’t get the chance to play much anymore, however and sometimes, she misses it greatly.
- Harry Potter - It's no secret that Ginny has a crush on Harry Potter, though she's done to her best to move on. Though romantic relationships are not high on the red-head’s list of priorities, she does enjoy them when she is involved in them, but she has become rather picky over the last few years. Currently, she is dating Dean Thomas, and their relationship is going well.
Dislikes:
- Liars/cheaters/players – Not all people in the world are likeable, and these types are the ones that Ginny absolutely cannot stand. When she is lied too, she takes it to heart and finds it hard to trust that person again. She hates people who strut around thinking that they’re better than everyone else (like Draco Malfoy and the other Slytherins), and hates arrogance and ignorance; those two personality flaws are big turn offs for her.
- Appearing weak and helpless – Ginny absolutely despises looking like a damsel in distress that cannot defend herself, and prefers to build a reputation as the strong, confident young woman she was raised to be. Luckily, this is the reputation she has.
- Being talked down too – Ginny hates being treated like a child. Her parents and brothers are especially bad for that. Her tendency to rebel against the rules came from the far too sheltered life that she lived growing up. From a young age, and because she was the youngest child (and only girl) and her parents were extremely overprotective of her, fussed over her, babied her, and were too paranoid to let her do most of the things she wanted too.
- Getting up early – While she has become used to this by now, Ginny is definitely not a morning person and needs a certain amount of sleep every night to ensure that she’s in a good mood when she wakes up.
- The Dark Arts – Being a kind-hearted, gentle person by nature means that Ginny despises anything that goes against that. Dark magic, in her opinion, never has good consequences and turns good people into complete monsters.
- Potions - This is Ginny's least favourite class at Hogwarts, and it's mainly because of her experiences in the class when Professor Snape taught it. She does well in the class, but feels like her work is never good enough.
- Death Eaters – Ginny has a very great dislike of the Dark Lord’s servants. There will always be a lingering hate for the people who've made the Wizarding World live in fear and have caused many people to lose countless loved ones.
Strengths: One of Ginny’s main strengths is her ability to stay strong. During her first year at Hogwarts, she was possessed by Lord Voldemort, but was able to break his hold on her and withstand his control for a long period of time. She also has the ability to move on with life, even after living through traumatic and damaging experiences, something that takes a lot of inner emotional strength, and is not easy for most people. It is that trait that people admire most about her.
Another one of Ginny’s biggest strengths is her kind heart; she is an unselfish individual who always put others before herself. She is always there to comfort someone in need, whether it be a stranger, a friend, or a family member, and she always offers a shoulder to cry on. She would do anything to help someone else, even if it means hurting herself. She also tries to see the good in everyone, unless she has seen on countless occasions that an individual has no good in them whatsoever. She sticks by the old saying to never judge a book by it's cover, which is why she became such good friends with Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood; she saw them for who they truly were deep down inside, and was able to look past the things that other people couldn't see.
Loyalty is another one of Ginny’s strengths. Her friends and family mean the world to her, and she would never do anything to hurt any of them. She would do anything for a friend, and will do whatever it takes to make sure that nobody puts them down. She is also very loyal to things that her beliefs and her values, and always stays true to herself. Her philosophy is that if someone cannot accept her for who she is, then that person was not meant to be in her life anyway. She refuses to change herself to please others, and if they don't like it, then too bad. Living with six brothers, and living through the experiences that she has, has made her learn how to sort out those who should be in her life from those who don't deserve to be.
Patience is another virtue that Ginny holds, staying faithful to those she loves. She never allows herself to become frustrated or stressed out, and will never lose her temper over something minor. Determination and motivation also contribute to that patience, as displayed by Ginny’s refusal to give up on anything that she truly wants, even after many failures. Both of these traits are expressed the many years that she waited for Harry to return her feelings. Though she did date other people, she never truly gave up on him, she just started getting used to his presence and let her true self shine through. After he saw her act like her true self, Harry finally saw her in a new light. To him, she was no longer "Ron's little sister", she was a strong, independent woman and he found himself falling for her. After three years of waiting, Ginny finally got to be with the one person she truly wanted to be with, and still wanted to be with even after being separated for a year. She was patient enough to wait for him, as he did what he had to do.
She is also very brave and courageous, displayed by the many times that she stood up against danger and evil, even when she didn’t think she’d have a chance. She was raised to never let fear stand in the way of achieving her dreams and goals, and she has stuck by that for her entire life.
Ginny has also been blessed with intelligence and cleverness, which help her achieve high grades in all of her classes and help to motivate her. Her intelligence also makes her a bit of a perfectionist, and she refuses to ever hand in an assignment until she has convinced herself that it was done to the best if her ability. Some people even call her the 'Hermione Granger' of her age.
She is also quite an accomplished actress, and is able to lie effectively. During the first meeting of what eventually became the DA in the Hog's Head, she coughed exactly like Professor Umbridge, and scared those gathered; they believed that the real Umbridge had caught them. Her acting talents were put to good use later on that same year, when Harry and Hermione broke into Umbridge's office to contact Sirius Black. As a cover for her friends, Ginny convinced all passing students that the corridor to Umbridge's office had been flooded with Garroting Gas, and that it was unwise to travel down that particular corridor.
Weaknesses Despite her many strengths, Ginny’s biggest weakness is how trusting she can be. When she came across Tom Riddle’s diary amongst her other school books in her first year, Ginny poured her heart out to him without even thinking. It was because of her belief that there is a little bit of good in everyone that she became such an easy target for Voldemort. Pouring out her heart to a stranger also expressed the ability to be easily manipulated and exploited. It also shows that she wears her heart on her sleeve, which is not always beneficial to her. It causes a lot of hurt feelings and makes Ginny very vulnerable at times .
Despite her kind and generous nature, Ginny can also express a slight temper when she is in a situation that she either does not like, or if she is annoyed or irritated. In those kind of situations, she tends to lash out and snap at anyone that is unfortunate enough to cross her path. She also has a tendency to be brutally honest when dealing with people she likes and dislikes. If she dislikes someone or something, she won’t hesitate to express her dislike, and that can sometimes get her into trouble.
Another weakness of Ginny's is boys. During her first few years at Hogwarts, she had countless boyfriends and was often described by her brothers as being too popular for her own good. She also tends to be disobedient, but that resulted from the tendency of her parents, siblings, and peers to treat her like a child, and not as the young woman that she is.
Another weakness is that she cannot seem to listen to both sides of things, and tends to make horribly rash decisions. These traits often become a great source of trouble for Ginny herself, and for those closest to her. Likewise, she is unable to find it within herself to forgive someone easily once she feels that she has been personally hurt. She still holds Lucius Malfoy solely responsible for being possessed in her first year, and would love the opportunity to personally punish him. Her strengths are often hindered by her lingering resentment towards people who have hurt her, or people that she cares about, the desire to get even often overwhelm her otherwise rational thoughts.
Overall Personality: Ginny Weasley is a forceful and independent young lady, who is both energetic and lively. Only around Harry Potter for the first few years that she knew him was she ever any different; her crush on him made it impossible for her to relax around him, and in his presence, she was always shy and quiet, the complete opposite of who she truly was. It was only through the help and advice of Hermione Granger that Ginny was finally able to relax around Harry and let her true nature shine though.
Anyone who has known Ginny for a long period of time can see that she is very spirited. From an early age, she proved that just because fate had made her the youngest, and only girl in her family didn't mean that she was going to take all the teasing and coddling without a bit of rebellion and a whole lot of independence. Under the guidance of her parents, and the relentless teasing, over-protection, and advice from her brothers, she has grown into a fiercely loyal, passionate, and unrelenting young woman.
Ginny's life is guided solely on her gut instinct, beliefs, and love of her family and friends. She is willing and enthusiastic to jump into a battle at a moment's notice, or to drop whatever she is doing to ensure that someone she loves has a shoulder to cry on or someone to talk too. While her first instincts often come off as powerful, rash, and maybe a bit too strong, she has the rare ability to reign in her anger and power and focus on the needs of another. When the people in her life have a problem, she always listens whole heartedly, then proceeds to give out rather impressive and knowledge advice for someone so young. She is caring and compassionate by nature, just as she is a strong force in all other areas of life.
Many people find Ginny a bit abrasive and cold, and truthfully she is. She has no patience or desire to list off the details of her life, or to put up with people or situations that she has already decided she dislikes. Standing on neutral ground is a hard concept for her to grasp, along with any sort of idea that ultimately is different from her own. In her mind, her side is the only side and she will rarely bother to listen to those who feel differently. Her will to stand up to anyone and everyone, whether friend or enemy also comes from this trait. Once she is angered it takes her a rather long time to either apologize or speak to the person in question in order to resolve the issues she has with him/her. She is one of those people who takes everything to heart, and finds it hard to trust people again once they have hurt her or broken her trust. She also tends to wear her heart on her sleeve.
Over the years, Ginny has also become much more motivated and determined for success. She has been trying harder to achieve high grades and master as many spells and hexes she can find in an effort to prove herself worthy of something more than what everyone expects from her. It is also her way of showing that people should stop underestimating her capabilities.

Pets: A purple pygmy puff named Arnold.
Residence: The Burrow, just outside Ottery St. Catchpole.
History: Ginevra Molly Weasley was born on August 11, 1981 as the youngest and final child born to Arthur and Molly Weasley. Her birth marked the day that a female was finally born into the Weasley family for several generations; her birth was also, in a word, a surprise. It was not that her parents were not expecting a child, it was because they had resigned to the fact that they would be adding yet another male into the family. Though her family was shocked, however, Ginny instantly earned the love of all the members of her family.
Growing up as the youngest child and only girl meant endless teasing and just as much over-protection from all sides. Each brother had their own special job for their only sister; Bill took her with him on trips into the village, and Charlie was the one to bring her presents from both his school days and his trips to Romania. Percy was often too busy with studying to have much to do with her, but, on rare occasions that he took time out to spend with her, her usually provided somewhat interesting conversation and gave her a bit of advice. The twins, however, were the ones that Ginny naturally gravitated too. She often joined in on their tricks, tormenting Ron, or saving them both from their mother's legendary temper. Through it all however, Ron remained her closest and favourite brother.
Ron was the one she told all her secrets too, shared her Chocolate Frogs with, and spent most of her time with. They spent a lot of time together; playing, learning how to read, or helping their mother do work around the house. Both of them were often left out of things, and on the rare occasion when Ron got to tag along with the older boys, Ginny was perfectly capable of occupying herself. Ron was the only brother who would play dolls with Ginny when she was little, and was always trying to do things to keep her from crying or being upset. As Ginny got older, she enjoyed nothing more than chasing Ron around the house and yard, and they even talked about starting school. All through their her childhood, Ginny was always protected by her brothers, but Ron was the most protective of all. Just before Ron left for Hogwarts, Ginny realized that she would be alone at the Burrow, and put instant guilt into her favourite brother's heart. A few weeks later, she watched with teary eyes as Ron boarded the train and headed off for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Hogwarts was a rite of passage in the Weasley household. Each child, especially Ginny, grew up hearing stories from their parents and older siblings of the Charmed corridors, the House ghosts, and other goings on within the castle. Likewise, each child waited anxiously for their eleventh birthday and the first trip on the Hogwarts Express. Watching as her brothers all went to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Ginny anxiously awaited her turn to board the big crimson train and travel to the well known school.
Ginny’s chance to attend Hogwarts came in 1992, only a year after Ron was admitted, and she was excited and anxious to finally join her brothers at last. Her school career started off normally enough, but as life began to settle into a routine she realized two things. One was that her brothers weren’t going to be her best friends, essentially leaving her alone in a sea full of Gryffindors with other people to worry about. It didn’t help that most were interested in Harry Potter and he seemed interested in anything that distinctly didn’t involve Ginny. As the isolation and loneliness grew, Ginny found herself writing down her thoughts and heartbreak in a diary she found amongst her school books, only to discover that the diary wrote back and offered comfort and advice. Unbeknown to her, the magic diary belonged to Voldemort, and the memory of his eighteen year old self was preserved inside, looking for someone to use as a servant. Eventually, Voldemort began to regularily possess the youngest Weasley, and she was forced to re-open the Chamber of Secrets and send a giant snake called a Basilisk after several Muggle-born students. While no one exactly knew that Ginny had been the one responsible for unleashing the Basilisk and opening the Chamber, there were certainly enough rumours to keep people away. At the end of the year, Ginny herself was taken into the Chamber with the intention of becoming a sacrifice so that Voldemort's memory could become fully human. The process was almost complete, and Ginny was only an inch from death, when Harry Potter showed up and revived her by killing the Basilisk and destroying the diary with one of it's fangs.
Ginny's second year, in many ways, was much more difficult than her first. She was still recovering from all of the events that had occured the previous year, and she was still too shy to relax and act like herself in the presence of Harry, whom she had become quite taken with. Though nothing terribly life-threatening occured that year, Ginny was still the same, shy, quiet and awkward girl that she had come to school as. It was hard for her to open up to anyone after what happened with the diary, and she found it hard to trust anyone. As a result, she basically alienated herself from everyone, and was very reserved and quiet, preferring to keep to herself and not socialize with anyone.
During her third year, however, Ginny began to leave the past where it should be. She began seeking out her own friends and avoided hanging in the shadow of her over-protective brothers. This was the year that she formed a quick and lasting friendship with both Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood, and eventually received an invitation to the Yule Ball from Neville. The Yule Ball was the event that helped transform Ginny from an awkward girl with a few friends that nobody else seemed to like, into a social circle full of people both in Ron's year and in her own. Thankfully, this also helped to bring her vibrant personality to the forefront and allowed her to move away from dwelling on a diary and the man that became Voldemort. That year, Ginny also met, and befriended fellow Gryffindor third year, Derek Collins.
Her fourth year brought on further changes for the young girl. Not only did she land a position on her house Quidditch team to replace a sidelined Harry, she also named the society that was formed to protest Dolores Umbridge and her presence within Hogwarts, and eventually won the Quidditch Cup for Gryffindor by catching the Snitch. It was during this year that she met Michael Corner, a fourth year Ravenclaw, who eventually became her first ever boyfriend. That year, Ginny also looked evil in the face for the first time when she became one of the five people to accompany Harry to the Department of Ministries in an attempt to rescue his godfather, Sirius Black. During that battle, Ginny worked along side Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna, Neville and several members of the Order of the Phoenix to fight against the Death Eaters and make the wizarding world finally understand that Voldemort was truly back. The end of the year made things complicated, with both her first breakup, and then the start of a new relationship in a matter of weeks with her fellow Gryffindor, Dean Thomas. Though the rest of the year was difficult to get through, Ginny moved through it smoothly and left eagerly awaiting her fifth year.
Now starting her fifth year at Hogwarts, Ginny is currently still dating Dean, though things aren't as good as they were before. So far, this year has been amazing for her, especially now that she has scored her dream position as Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch team. She has also grown closer to her long-term crush, Harry Potter. The year has barely begun, and Ginny is excited to see what the rest of it will bring.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry felt different these days, now that the Dark Lord had been vanquished and his Death Eaters and other followers had gone into hiding. Everything seemed so much calmer and less stressful now, despite the fact that it was still a school. Ginny's guess was that the professors were trying to be kind towards the students, giving them time to grieve and get over the traumatic battle that so many brave souls had been lost in, hence the fact that there wasn't much homework being assigned just yet. For Ginny, it was a bit strange to have so much free time at school considering the work load that was usually assigned from the first days of classes to the last. Not to mention the added strain of NEWTS in the case of Ginny and her fellow seventh years. Well, at least they could all relax for a bit and bask in the fact that the professors were being incredibly lax for the time being.
In Ginny's opinion, everything about the wizarding world had changed. Not only were people living in less fear than they had been for the last few years, but now it seemed that the world was sort of uniting as one, helping each other to pick up the shattered pieces of their world and glue them back together in a new way, making a new world. It was nice to see people who would have never spoken or associated with each other before were finally forgetting their differences and working together to re-build, and enjoy, the new world that they had lived to see. A world without evil lurking around every dark corner, ready to strike, was an amazing change, and Ginny was glad that she was still alive to be able to see it. It was moments like this, however, when Ginny thought of the fallen, family and friends of those who had survived, who would never see the new world in action. People like Fred, Lupin, Tonks, Mad-Eye, Sirius, and many others. They were all people that Ginny looked up too, and kept deep within her heart so that she would have a piece of each of her lost loved ones to hold on too. With their memories locked deep within her, Ginny felt as if they hadn't died, and viewed the new world as a tribute to the fallen to remind every one about the people who had bravely given their lives to make the world the way it was now. That just meant that none of them had died in vain.
Ginny was one of those students who, like Hermione, strived for success in all aspects of her life, especially when it came to school. People like her brother Ron, who had only survived through school because Hermione had been nice enough to help him out, irked the seventeen year old a bit, though she had enough self-control to keep her annoyance in check. Another thing that irked her was when people put forth only a partial effort and didn't work as hard as some of their fellow classmates and sometimes still ended up with the same results as those who actually put effort in. Ginny could not count the number of times that she had witnessed a situation like that. It just didn't seem fair, and she knew that she wasn't the only one who found those situations annoying and frustrating. There were also those occassions when one student would do something to make the professor angry, resulting in the entire class having to pay for it; now those situations were frustrating and took all of Ginny's self-control to keep from lashing out. Instead, she would just bite her lower lip and try to ignore the annoyance rising within her.
These were the thoughts going through the young woman's mind as she wondered through the library, attempting to find something to read that would hold her attention long enough to make her feel entertained. Hogwarts was pretty boring without having Ron, Harry and Hermione there, and though Ginny had other friends in her own year that she enjoyed spending time with, she found most of the remaining students rather dull and immature. Or, at least, not people that she would willingly spend time with. Scanning the lower shelves of the row that she was currently standing in, Ginny's brown eyes came across a space in the row of books and peeked through just in time to see a pair of familiar blue eyes, radish earrings, and pale blonde hair looking back at her. Obviously startled, Ginny watched as the girl fell backwards and ran to the other side of the bookcase to help her up. "Sorry Luna!"
In Ginny's opinion, everything about the wizarding world had changed. Not only were people living in less fear than they had been for the last few years, but now it seemed that the world was sort of uniting as one, helping each other to pick up the shattered pieces of their world and glue them back together in a new way, making a new world.
