Overall appearance: Remus has had plenty of stress in his life and it definitely shows in his appearance. While he is only 36 years old, his hair is already showing signs of grays and his face is showing more wrinkles than a 36 year old should. Not only does he have wrinkles, but he has worry and frown lines. Being a werewolf, it’s rare that Remus gets any jobs, so he doesn’t have a lot of money. As a result, his clothes and other possession are often worn and tattered. Remus has a sort of sullen look on his face most of the time because there are few things that make him actually happy. His weight shifts from being thin to extremely thin when it comes to be around the full moon time because he starts to feel ill about a week before and after the actual full moon. When Remus was younger, the Wolfsbane potion (the potion which allows him to keep his mind at the full moon) had not been invented yet and because of that he has developed scars all over his body. Overall Personality: Remus doesn’t think much of himself at all. He grew up as a werewolf and he was treated as such for his entire life. In the Wizarding World, werewolves are seen as lower beings and Remus, now in his mid thirties, believes that he is a piece of trash. He doesn’t understand why people want to be around him, why they want to be friends, or even why they would want to love him. Remus is often off by himself and he will never seek the company of others because, as stated before, no matter how much they try to convince him, he always assumes that they would rather be doing something else than being with him. Now he’s an adult, he has a fair amount of friends that would do absolutely anything for him and just can’t understand it.
Remus grew up not having any friends, so he buried himself in learning and in books. Books and papers didn’t judge a person and he stuck by them. This continued to help him when he went on to attend Hogwarts because he had developed study skills and he had knowledge that set him far ahead of his peers. He was a good student and people would always come to him for study and homework help. This did not stop when he graduated and became an adult. He was always reading new studies that had been done or historical findings.
Remus places whoever becomes his friend on a very high pedestal. When he first became friends with James, Sirius and Peter, he was shocked that they would want to be friends with him: a werewolf and that they weren’t going to tell anyone about his secret. The one best friend that is still alive, however, is Lucien Seraphin. This man, he connected with on a completely different level than anyone else because they both have been rejected by society because of what they are.

Residence: A small apartment above the Leaky Cauldron
History: Remus Lupin was born on March 10, 1960 to John and Laura Lupin. Laura was a pureblood witch and John was a half blood wizard. Their marriage was greatly frowned upon, but they pushed through because to be frank, they didn’t care what people thought of them. The couple was overjoyed when little Remus was born and they spoiled him with toys. They lead a fairly normal life(normal on Wizarding standards, that is) and they were what would be labeled as middle class. They had enough to get buy and a little extra to splurge. John was a very outspoken wizard against the Dark Arts, but one day he crossed a wizard that he shouldn’t have. He should have kept his mouth shut when this wizard, or werewolf, threatened him. As a punishment for being so obnoxious with his opinion, Fenrir Greyback stated that he would attack one of the most precious things in John’s heart: his son. One night, Greyback, crashed into little Remus’s room and gave him no mercy.
Remus’s life had now become completely miserable. What was worse was that he didn’t completely understand what was happening to him. He knew that something extremely painful and scary had happened to him, but being only four years old, he didn’t know very well what a werewolf was. However, he soon found out what the rest of his life would be like at the first full moon. Since they hadn’t created the Wolfsbane potion yet, Remus went though the transformations all alone. Without the potion, the pain is heightened and his mind is completely succumbed to the wolfish ways.
By the time Remus had become ten years old, he had shown signs of magical ability and he had gotten a hold of his werewolfy problems. His parents had written to Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry to see if Remus could have any special treatment due to his delicate condition. Dumbledore wrote back saying that he wanted every student possible to be able to get a magical education, whether they had special conditions or not and that Hogwarts would be glad to have Remus as a student.
Once Remus had turned eleven, he had gotten the official letter of acceptance from Hogwarts, which he was absolutely ecstatic about. He became fairly good friends with three boys by the names of James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew, who later found out they were all in Gryffindor. He tried his best to keep his secret from them, but James and Sirius were too smart for him. They noticed that he started to get sick and weak around the full moon. So, they confronted him about it. At first, Remus denied it, thinking that if he admitted it, he would lose the first real friends he ever had. However, the pair already knew the truth, so Remus was forced to come clean. However, instead of abandoning him like he assumed they were going to, it only made their friendship stronger. James, Sirius, and Peter vowed to become early and unlisted Animagi. They spent the rest of their Hogwarts years together, getting into trouble every now and again and they soon developed what they called the Marauder’s Map and they called their little gang the Marauders.
Soon after they graduated, Lord Voldemort became a major power in the Wizarding World and Albus Dumbledore created what was called the Order of the Phoenix. The Marauder’s all joined it and were strong believers in the cause. All, except for Peter, of course, who ended up betraying the whole group. Peter led Voldemort to the Potters’ house and allowed him to kill them, but that was also where Voldemort had his downfall from the soon to be famous Harry Potter.
Feeling completely alone at this point, with having two of his best friends dead and one in Azkaban, Remus went off by himself to attempt to get some kind of job. He only found a few odd jobs here and there. Most people refused to hire him because he had the classic traits of a werewolf, one of the things a lot of people were afraid of, didn’t trust, or simply thought they weren’t good enough. His favorite job was when he got hired by Albus to be the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts.
Unfortunately, that only lasted a year because Severus Snape gave away the fact that he was a werewolf and he didn’t feel that he should be teaching at the school anymore.
Within the next few years, Voldemort’s reign had gotten stronger and more dangerous. The Order had been reawakened and Remus was one of its most active members. However, he suffered a blow when last year his redeemed best friend, Sirius Black was murdered by none other than Bellatrix Lestrange.

Remus headed for the door of Number 12 Grimmauld Place. He was tired of all this quarreling with Tonks and it needed to stop. “But Remus, you don’t-,” Tonks said, as she started to contradict what Remus had said only moments before. Remus couldn’t take it anymore, though. “No, Tonks, I understand quite well, it’s you that doesn’t understand,” he said, allowing himself to show his anger. “We are a terrible match and it would never work between us,” he said, a bit calmer, but just as stern. Why couldn’t she get this through her thick head? He knew that he was doing the right thing by turning her away. Nymphadora Tonks was a wonderful young woman and she deserved a man her own age that would give her exactly what she needed and what she wanted. As much as he hated himself for it, he just couldn’t do that. Not to mention he was over ten years older than her and then there was the fact that he was a werewolf. “This conversation is over, Tonks. I don’t want to hear another word about it,” he said.
And with that, he turned and left, knowing that he had made her cry. She had often used that as an attempt to change his mind. But he only had her best interests at heart. She needed someone that she could flourish with, not diminish. Remus closed the door quietly behind him, so that Mrs. Black would not awaken and start screaming her head off.
Remus apparated to just outside the Leaky Cauldron, as he lived in a small apartment just above the pub. He had become quite good friends with the barman, Tom. “Ah, just a FireWhiskey, please, Tom,” he said as he lowered himself onto a barstool. “You know you’re being stupid,” he heard a voice say from behind him. He turned around and to his complete shock, he saw his best friend, Sirius Black , who was supposedly dead. “S-Sirius?” he said, unsure of what he was thinking. “Remus, Tonks loves you and you love her, too. You’ll make each other happy. Take a chance,” said Sirius, before disappearing.
And with that, Remus woke up.
