The weather was getting colder now that fall was fading away and winter was beginning to set in. With the beginning of winter came a change for the grounds of Hogwarts, as all the leaves began falling off the trees and fell softly to the ground, and the flowers slowly beginning to sink back into the ground to wait out the cold. Because of that, Ginny was finding that she was spending a lot more time within the castle walls. Homework was piling up, which meant that she had little time to go and enjoy the Fall weather while she still could, and that fact depressed her a bit. Soon enough, she wouldn't even want to go outside, no matter how much she loved the castle grounds. There were some temperatures that even she didn't want to deal with if she could help it, and that was going to be the main thing that stopped her whenever she felt he urge to explore the exterior of the castle.
On this particular day, the fifteen year old had taken to the Great Hall, sitting comfortably at the Gryffindor table with her Potions textbook open on the table in front of her. She had been trying to read the chapter she was supposed to be reading for the next day's class while finishing lunch, but it wasn't exactly exciting, and she was having a hard time keeping her attention focused on the words in front of her. That was usually how it went when it came to reading her textbooks, though Ginny normally forced herself through it, which lifted a huge weight off her shoulders when she finished. She had learned in her last four years at Hogwarts that keeping up with the assigned reading made things a lot simpler when it came to class time, and made a lot more sense when she knew what her professors were talking about. At least now she didn't have to deal with Snape breathing down her neck during Potions, and she could finally start doing better without the stress. Classes were a lot more enjoyable when she wasn't stressed out, as she was sure was the case for just about everyone. In fact, sometimes they were even interesting depending who it was that was teaching.
Looking away from her book to give her eyes a break, Ginny glanced around the Great Hall to see what everyone else there was up to. Some were doing homework, and others were eating and socializing. Luckily, nobody was being particularly loud or distracting, though Ginny somewhat wished that they would be distracting. Homework had taken over her social life the last few days, and she could have really used a break. But, the problem was that the people she normally hung around were equally as busy or did not share the same free period as her, which caused a bit of interference in free time. Sighing audibly, she leaned closer to the table, hiked her knees up underneath her in order to get more comfortable and looked down at the Potions book again, determined to finish the chapter and hoping that she could find something to do with her free period afterwards that was not homework or school-related.

'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
When Harry has first seen his schedule and how it had consisted of so many free periods, he'd been so over joyed. That meant that much more free time to do whatever he wanted; whether it be sleeping in, practicing Quidditch, or just lounging around the common room or castle. However Hermione had warned him, and Ron as well, that thsoe periods were for studying because that's what they were for... Merlin Harry hated how right she was sometimes. Honestly, there should be a law stating that you were only allowed to be right about so many things...
At first, his free periods had been just how he had pictured them. The best times of the year so far. However as summer faded into fall, and fall started to become winter; Harry was noticeing that the teachers were giving them more and more homework, no doubt trying to cram as much information as they could into their heads before the holidays. Of course, Harry was starting his N.E.W.T. years, which meant his work was becoming that much harder. He would be attending Hogwarts for the last time next year, and then he would be an adult by wizarding standards... He'd be out in the real world. Of course, that didn't mean much to Harry Potter. Being out in the real world meant facing Voldemort; probably for the last time.
He shook his head of the thoughts, hoisting his bag up his shoulder as he headed down towards the Great Hall. He still had to write that Essay for Professor Snape on Nonverbal Spells, and even though it wasn't due for another two days (Harry was prone to putting off his essay's as long as possible) he figured he'd better get started now. Ever since Snape had achieved his goal as Defense Against the Dark Arts post, he'd been unbareable; and Harry's best subject was quickly becoming his worst. As he entered the Great Hall, he scanned it; looking for any familiar face. He ignored the stares he drew as he entered the room. He was beginning to wonder if everyone had a Harry Potter sensor that went off whenever he entered the room; for ever head seemed to turn to him without fail.
Spotting the Youngest and only Female Weasley at the Gryffindor Table (his heart did it's familar fluttering as if missing a few beats while his stomache did a few flips) he started walking down towards her, coming to a stop next to her. "Mind if I sit here?" he asked, nodding to the spot next to her.

When she had first seen her class schedule, Ginny had been surprised to find two free periods, but was nonetheless glad. They were at decent times, though the fact that she appeared to be the only one in her group of friends that had one during both times depressed her a little. But, after thinking about it for a bit she decided that it was probably better that way, since it would help her concentrate on school work instead of socializing and neglecting her homework. Free periods were supposed to be time to work on assignments and study for exams so that it wouldn’t all pile up and overwhelm the students, and as a fifth year Prefect, Ginny was trying to set a good example. However, she was also quite bored currently reading her textbook chapter, and had hoped to find someone to hang around with for a while instead of doing that. When that hope had been crushed, she had sighed and pulled the book from her bag, reading while she ate lunch. It was strange to see the Great Hall so empty, but that was also because she wasn’t used to having free periods. Every meal except for lunch was planned for the entire school at the same time, and she hadn’t gotten used to having an earlier one than most people just yet. It was normally noisy and crowded in the large, cavernous room, and Ginny wasn’t used to the quiet. As time went on she figured it would become more familiar and less strange, but for now she was going to stick with her opinion of it being strange. It would feel normal again once dinner rolled around and the entire school was present again.
She was thinking about her OWLs, though they weren’t until the end of the term –which was still quite a few months away- and how much studying she was going to have to do. Once they started looming around the corner, she knew that she would have even less of a social life than she did now, and was hoping to make up for that while there wasn’t much pressure on her when it came to school work. Sure, the professors assigned quite a lot, but it was never anything that was due too close to each other so she was able to effectively space out the time she had to spend working on and completing her assignments and divide the free time she had between Dean and her friends. Hogwarts wasn’t just about learning, after all. It was about making friends for life as well, and Ginny considered herself lucky to have the close-knit group of friends that she had. She was popular and knew just about everyone in her year, but there was always going to be that small group that she considered herself closer to than everyone else, and they were the ones that she was going to hold on to throughout her entire life.
Summer was fading into fall so it was getting harder to find places to hang out, but the weather was still decent enough so that they could go outside without freezing, which was fine with Ginny. Her favourite place on the grounds was the lake, and she and Dean spent a lot of afternoons out there talking, cuddling and sometimes even helping each other study for upcoming tests. By the time OWLs and NEWTs rolled around, however, she knew that they would be making up for the lack of time they could spend down there during the winter months that were eventually going to come, and that was something that she looked forward too even though it was still far off. Thinking about that, her thoughts drifted back to a few weeks ago, the last few weeks before school had resumed, when Harry and Hermione had come to stay at the Burrow. They had spent countless days flying around in the backyard playing mini Quidditch games, and she and Hermione had always stayed up late into the night talking and teasing the boys. It had been great fun, and she was sure that it would be the same case this coming summer. With Harry and Hermione there, the Burrow always seemed much more entertaining and exciting, especially since it meant that Ginny wasn’t stuck with only her brothers and their constant nagging about Dean for company. As she turned a page in her book and continued to think about the summer that had just ended, she heard a voice beside her and turned to see Harry standing there beside her, waiting for an answer from her. “Oh, hey Harry. Yeah, go ahead,” she responded, giving him a smile and moving her bag to the floor to make room for him to sit down. 'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
Hogwarts was the one place where Harry felt at home. Even though he had experienced the worst parts of his life here... it was still the best place in Harry's mind. It was the one place where he seemed to belong. It was also probably the safest place for him to be. In all honesty, as the situation with Lord Voldemort grew bigger and bigger each day, Harry had been almost positive that he wouldn't be allowed to leave the safety of the grounds. He was actually surprised that he was able to attend the Hogsmeade. And even if Dumbledore was linnet about his leaving the school, he would have been positive the Ministry wouldn't have been. But he was sure that the Ministry wasn't fine with his wandering about as if nothing were wrong. After all, they had given The Burrow the highest protection they had when Harry was sent to spend the rest of the summer there. They had spent so much time and energy making sure that The Dark Lord and his Death Eaters couldn't reach him there, there was bound to be some tempers flaring about his free wandering under the Headmaster.
But Harry enjoyed it. He enjoyed being treated normally. He hated how everyone was going out of there way to make sure he was okay... that he was safe. He had hated how Mrs. Weasley had been stressed beyond belief because of the added protection to her house for his stay over the summer. Where ever Harry went, he seemed to be the cause of some type of pain, discomfort, or annoyance to someone or another. Number Four Privet Drive: His Uncle and Aunt thought him a waste of space and precious oxygen. He wasn't entirely sure how he stood with Dudley now, because his cousin seemed to have been avoiding him on his brief visit 'home'. The Burrow with the Weasleys: the discomfort he had caused for the Weasley's could have been cut with the world's dullest butter knife. However he knew the Weasley's wouldn't complain. They wanted to help Harry, and yet he couldn't figure out any way of helping them in return. Arthur Weasley had waved off his concern when Harry had voiced it. He had done enough for them... Saved Ginny, befriended Ron, Helped out when he could around the house even though he didn't have to... All of this to Harry, paled in comparison to what they were doing for him. And then Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: Not so much as pain, discomfort, or annoyance... as it was pure loathing for some. Severus Snape's attitude towards Harry seemed to grow fouler each and every year.
Harry often wondered why he even bothered with it anymore. He had known since that fateful day last June upon returning to Hogwarts after the Battle in the Department of Mysteries what had to be done. Dumbledore had made it extremely clear of what his life would be like. Until either Voldemort or Himself had died, Harry would always be looking over his shoulder. And he knew that, even if he ended up defeating Voldemort with some stroke of luck, that he still wouldn't be able to sleep peacefully at night. His chances at a peaceful night vanished the day he had accepted to follow Hagrid and start his journey as a Wizard in Training. But if he hadn't accepted Hagrid's offer, he wouldn't have met Ron or Hermione... he wouldn't have met Dumbledore or Remus or Tonks... He wouldn't have met the Twins or Ginny... He wouldn't have met... and lost, Sirius.
No, those thoughts were dangerous. Because he had accepted his Hogwarts letter. He had followed Hagrid, and he had met everyone... he had found and lost Sirius. There was no point in determining what was and what wasn't. Besides... the positive out weighed the negative by so much... It was to bad that he had just realized any of this too late. Particularly with what he could have had. And what he could have had sat right in front of him, her fiery red hair standing out against her dark robes. When she turned to look at him, he felt himself growing warm around the ears and neck as his emerald green eyes met her chocolate brown ones. At her positive response, he smiled at her, shrugging his shoulder off his shoulder. "Thanks... What you doing out here by yourself? I would have thought you'd be with a group of friends." he said to her.
It wasn't like he was complaining. It was just... well, Ginny was a very popular young lady. It wasn't like the two of them to spend much time together... but having spent the past few summers with Ginny, he had grown used to her always being there. He was rudely awaken to the fact that they led very separate lives at Hogwarts. However he wasn't going to knock any chance he had of spending time with her solo.

* SHE WAS YOUNG BUT NOT NAÏVE ! always wise beyond her years - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
For Ginny, Hogwarts had become like a second home. It was the place that held a lot of both her worst and happiest memories, and she wouldn’t have traded it for anything. She felt safer there than she did in any other place in the world, besides the Burrow with her family of course. Despite the fact that dark forces were at work and chaos was being thrust upon the wizard world, she was able to lay her head down and sleep peacefully at night knowing that nothing could seriously harm her while she was there under the watchful, protective eyes of Dumbledore and the other professors. The friends she met there were like a second family and with them around things going on in the wizard world didn’t seem quite so horrible. She was glad now that she and Ron had convinced their mother to let them go back, otherwise Ginny knew she would have been going stir crazy with how much she missed the castle. It just wouldn’t have been the same, and she assumed that if they hadn’t been able to go back, Mrs. Weasley would have eventually given in just to shut her up. It was an amusing thought, and Ginny smiled down into her book as she thought about that. It was a comforting thought, rather than the ones she’d been having lately that feared for the safety of her family out in the wizard world. But, she remembered that there had been several protective spells put on the Burrow to protect Harry when he had gone to stay with them over the summer, and as far as the fifteen year old knew, they hadn’t been taken down yet.
Ginny knew that Harry had spent most of the summer considering himself a burden to the Weasleys since they needed the extra protection on their house in order to have him there, but she didn’t agree with him at all. It was true that her mother had been stressed out, but it wasn’t just because of his presence. In fact, Ginny knew that Mrs.Weasley actually enjoyed Harry’s presence and considered him another son. Plus, everyone else found his presence perfectly fine too. He had become part of their family in the last few years along with Hermione, and that wasn’t going to change. She knew from watching him every day that he hated putting the family in a potentially dangerous situation, but none of them minded so they hadn’t complained. They all wanted him safe as well, and did not want anything to happen to him. That was why she was glad that she and Harry had started talking and hanging out more in the last few months, because now she felt like she was part of his life. That was all she had ever really wanted, and was now finally able to have. It was a nice feeling, though she knew that Dean wasn’t exactly happy with the increasing amount of time she spent around Harry. But, she was allowed to have male friends, so she usually ignored him whenever he tried to make it seem like a problem. She was tired of their pointless arguments, so she did her best not to let them start unless they were absolutely necessary, which in the case of her friendship with Harry, they weren’t.
Now that she had Harry there to keep her company, the youngest Weasley closed her book and put it carefully back in her bag. She had been under the impression that most people didn’t share this free period with her, but apparently she was wrong. If it had to be one person that she was stuck on break with then she was glad it was Harry, though she wouldn’t have minded one of her other close friends either. Either way, she was glad that she wasn’t going to be bored enough to read her chapters weeks in advance, because she really didn’t want to do that. She watched as Harry swung his bag off his shoulder, letting it hit the ground with a gentle thud and sat down across him her. As his eyes met her, she gave him a warm smile and kicked her own bag closer to her to give him more room. She was sure that to Dean this would look like something that it wasn’t, but she was going to do her best not to think about that for now. Right now, she was going to enjoy the time she got to spend with Harry that afternoon and would deal with the questions and accusations later. It wasn’t like she had purposely planned to have a free period with him or anything, so there was really nothing for her boyfriend to be mad about and she would point that out if he tried to start a fight. At his words she shook her head gently, letting her long hair fall over her shoulders. “Nope, just me. Everyone else has class at the moment. What about you?” she asked, focusing her full attention on him. 'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
If you would have told Harry that when he first laid eyes on Ginny Weasley that fateful day he met the Weasley’s that he would eventually have feelings for the younger girl, he probably would have laughed. After all, she was obviously someone who grew up in a Wizarding Family… Someone who knew all about Magic and the Wizarding World and well, EVERYTHING! Everything that he didn’t. Plus at eleven, girls were the furthest thing on his mind. He was more concerned about everything having been some cooked up scheme of the Dursley’s to make his life a bigger living hell than it already had been. And then he had met Ron Weasley, and had started what was to be an excellent friendship… one that would later be tested with all kinds of trails. When he had been reintroduced to her during the summer before his second year, he had been well aware of her little mishaps she seemed prone to when he was around (of course, he turned a blind eye); but even then, he’d have laughed. She was Ron’s sister! That was some breach of Best Mate trusts, wasn’t it? Never look at younger sisters… (or any sister). Besides, at twelve, girls were still such a mystery it hadn’t mattered.
And then his third year… Thirteen, hormones, puberty. Now girls were looking interesting. But the only girl that had managed to catch his eye then had been the fourth year seeker for the Ravenclaw team, Cho Chang. She had been a head shorter than him (and he was short for his age!) but she had been extremely pretty. Of course, he hadn’t realized his feelings for her then. How was he to know what the weird butterflies in his stomach region meant? He didn’t see much of Ginny this year, but what he did see of her, he had noticed a similar sensation of growing feelings… His feelings for her had been what they were for Hermione. Sisterly. Nothing special. By now, he was considering the Weasley’s a possible family… a replacement for the one he didn’t have. And then his fourth year. He knew for a fact that the Weasley’s were the family he never had. How else was he to explain the way Mrs. Weasley fussed over him? He was certain that had his Mum and Dad been alive, they would have been just as loving. And he had spent a good portion of his summer with the Weasley’s, including Ginny… She was starting to act normal around him now… He figured that her little crush over him was probably going away as all crushes did. However, his feelings for Cho were becoming stronger… more defined.
He had known he loved Cho. What wasn’t to love about her? She was extremely pretty, and very polite. She had been one of the only ones not to scorn him when his name came out of the Goblet on Halloween. And he had thought he’d had a chance with her… but Diggory… Cedric had beaten him to it… And then Fifth year. The entire …. No, most of the Wizarding world had been against him. He could remember sitting at the table in Grimmauld Place with every in the Order and just listening to the conversations taking place. Listening, but very rarely participating in. He still felt so disconnected from everyone after Cedric’s death. He could easily remember how he thought Ginny had a nice laugh though… He had never really stopped to listen to it before… but then again, he hadn’t stopped to do a lot of things before Voldemort’s return. But even then, his feelings for the feisty Red-headed Weasley were only brotherly. And, as he had come to learn later, she had a boyfriend… Michael Corner of Ravenclaw. His sights had still been set on Cho Chang… and it seemed that this was his year to do just that! To Finally get the girl… Oh how he had gotten her… and then lost her again. He’d be lying if he said that some part of him didn’t regret not giving her another try… Obviously that had been a bad time for them to try a relationship.
But then the incident at the Ministry… only a few of the DA had come with him… Only a few had stood by him when he needed people the most… And Cho hadn’t been one of them. Ginny had been though. She had seen him suffer that night… saw him lose something precious. He had spent more time with Ginny that summer than any other summer. And it was then that he noticed his feelings for her where starting to transform into something they weren’t supposed to; something they shouldn’t have been allowed to be. But it didn’t matter… because Harry was marked for Death…. Ginny was dating fellow Gryffindor Dean Thomas… None of it matter. But he suddenly found him with a front row view… and feeling of how Ginny must have felt. To like someone, and to not be liked in return. However, Harry knew what his future consisted of. He had to kill Voldemort… either that, or be killed. And it wouldn’t be fair to Ginny if…. When he set out on that little adventure.
His emerald green eyes briefly flickered to her long, red hair as it fell over her shoulder. A small smile appeared on his features. He got to spend some time alone with Ginny at school; something he didn’t think was possible! He shrugged his shoulders lightly. “I don’t know where Hermione is… Probably a class. Her schedule is different from mine and Ron’s… as for Ron… No clue. Probably the Kitchens nicking some sweets from the House Elves.” He said, grinning at her lightly.

* SHE WAS YOUNG BUT NOT NAÏVE ! always wise beyond her years - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
If anyone had told Ginny that exactly four years after she had met Harry Potter and couldn’t even stay in his presence for two minutes without running away that they would be sitting in the Great Hall actually hanging out, then she wouldn’t have believed it. When she was eleven, she was under the impression that she was never going to be able to relax around him enough to actually develop a friendship with him, let alone have an actual conversation with him, and now she had done both. It hadn’t been easy, but she had gotten over her awkward, shy stage and she supposed the fact that he had saved her from the Chamber of Secrets had helped push her out of her shy bubble. Hermione had told her to just relax around him and things would be different, and Ginny was glad to say that her friend was right. Now, she could say that she was actually part of Harry’s life and he was part of her’s, and they could hang out like normal people without her nerves taking over and forcing her to retreat before she humiliated herself. She had accepted that he was never going to feel anything for her besides friendship, and she was alright with that as long as she was able to be part of his life somehow. That was all she had ever really wanted, and was something she now had so she wasn’t going to complain.
But, it wasn’t until the summer that had just ended that they had actually grown so close. Sure, he spent the last two weeks of summer at the Burrow every year and they talked casually, but they had never really hung out together until that summer, where they had played Quidditch in the spacious backyard and were normally on opposing teams, so they kept crashing into each other in an attempt to steal the ball and would laugh about it later. It had been an enjoyable summer, one of the best in fact, and Ginny often found herself missing those days and was looking forward to the upcoming one, which she hoped would be equally as memorable. It had to be, considering Bill and Fleur’s wedding was going to be taking place during that time. It was sure to be an interesting event, though she wasn’t exactly thrilled at the idea of having to deal with the girl for the rest of her life after that. But, thankfully that was quite a ways off so she didn’t need to think about that right now. Right now, she was going to focus on her school work, her friends, and her boyfriend. There was plenty of time to worry about having Fleur for a sister-in-law later on, and she wasn’t going to let those thoughts put her in a sour mood. She was, after all, spending time with Harry and didn’t want him to think that she was less fun to be around because of a random change in mood.
It seemed that ever since the incident at the Ministry, Harry had gotten more involved with her life. It was probably because she was one of the few people who had gone down to the Department of Mysteries to help him save Sirius, and she had seen for herself that the Dark Lord had returned. Seeing his face so close to her had struck fear into the youngest Weasley’s heart, but she was able to hold it in and be brave the way her house expected her to be. Of course, that didn’t mean that she didn’t let her fear get the better of her later on in the privacy of her dormitory, but that was a different story. She didn’t want to spoil this time with Harry by dwelling on things from the past, but she knew that he was probably doing the same thing. Everything that had happened to him had to have been getting to him, and she hoped he knew that she was there for him if he needed a friend. She found herself wondering what he was thinking about all the time, since he always seemed to be deep in thought, and knew it wasn’t always just about losing Sirius, but she found it was better not to ask unless he told her. That was how she avoided any level of heartache or whatever emotion he’d feel at the mention of his dark past, and it was a method that worked quite well in her opinion. She saw the smile spread across his face and she returned it warmly, glad to have him for company. “That’s pretty typical of him,” she responded, laughing and rolling her chocolate eyes. “Well either way I’m sure they’ll join us shortly. Until then, I suppose you’re stuck with me.” [/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - status , complete! word count ,805tagged ,harry potter && ron weasley! outfit ,gryffindor uniform lyrics , by nick jonas himself—rose garden credit , goes to MEELA ! of CAUTION 2.0! for the template and photo. 'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
It was just so easy to talk with Ginny. He couldn't understand why he hadn't tried to before... Obviously, her crush that she had had on him made things difficult... She was constantly blushing, and stuttering or even dropping things; becoming extremely clumsy. But that had grown less through the years. He'd have to say it stopped sometime during his fourth year. Third year he had noticed was just as bad as his second... although maybe a notch or two lesser. He supposed it had helped slightly that he saved her down in the Chamber Of Secrets. Of course, he would have thought it would make it that much more difficult. And if Ginny had been any other girl, than it probably would have been.
He supposed that was what made his brotherly affection for the red-head grow to the next level. Because she was not like other girls. Harry had enough stress in his life without having to worry about carrying around the woes of a teenage girl. He didn't have time to hold her hand everyday, or ask her about her problems or carry her books or to hold open a door for her... He wasn't capable of caring for someone who was completely dependent on him. And that's where his feelings for her began to grow. Ginny was independent. She didn't need him to be there every single second of the day, she didn't fuss about everything, her nails weren't a top priority and she certainly didn't need someone to help her with simple things like opening doors. She was more than capable of taking care of herself... and now that he knew how his life had to play out... He didn't have time to have to constantly worry about some girls safety. If he had to kill Voldemort... or be killed by him... He didn't have time to sit around and make sure she was protected or someone was watching her. Ginny was a fighter... She was brilliant, Smart, funny.... Attractive... a small voice in his head said.
He wanted to argue with the voice... but it had a solid point. She was rather attractive. And she didn't have to use make-up to pretty herself up. As a matter of fact, Harry wasn't sure if she owned Make-up or not. But that really wasn't something he was going to dwell on. A small chuckle escaped him as she stated that would be just like Ron. “Your brother always seems to be hungry... I don't remember Fred, George, or Percy ever eating as much as him. I wonder where he puts it all.” he said. His friend was like a bottomless pit. Harry really couldn't see how someone could eat so much. But then again, he didn't eat enough... something Mrs. Weasley was always quick to pick up on when he came to her house after leaving the Dursley's.
He looked at her with a mock look of surprise on his features. “Stuck with you? You make it sound like it's a bad thing. Personally... and don't tell Ron or Hermione this... If I had to pick one person to be stranded with on a deserted Island... I'd be picking you.” he said to her. There were multiple reasons as to why he would pick Ginny. Some of them not as noble as others... But when it came down to it... She'd just provide the better company.

* SHE WAS YOUNG BUT NOT NAÏVE ! always wise beyond her years - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It was surprising to Ginny how easy it was to get along with Harry, and how natural it felt for them to be hanging out like they were now. The Great Hall was bustling with activity from those who were on break, and the fifteen year old didn’t miss all of the glances that were coming her way as girls passed by, probably wishing that they were in Ginny’s position right now. At this thought, she rolled her eyes and was glad that most of Harry’s fanclub seemed to be stuck in class right now. It had to have been a nice break for him too, being able to go somewhere without being followed by a horde of giggling girls. But, maybe he liked the attention and she was completely off her rocker. Either way, she was glad that she didn’t have to deal with the horde giving her death glares because Harry was talking to her and not them. It was ridiculous how jealous and obsessive people could get, and Ginny wondered if she had ever been like that when she was younger; she certainly hoped not, otherwise she would feel like a hypocrite. But, she could certainly understand what the attraction to Harry was, since she herself had been victim to it in the past and sometimes even now. It was wrong of her to think about since she had a boyfriend now, but it was hard not to think about it when he was around. She was going to do her best not too, however, since she was finally part of his life and didn’t want to jeopardize that. Plus, she was happy with Dean.
Ginny was glad to have Harry there to keep her company, since it had been pretty much the most boring fifteen minutes of her life before he’d joined her. She had gotten ahead in all of her homework, which was a good thing, but it wasn’t when you had nothing else to do. That was why she had gone into the Great Hall, hoping to be able to at least eat an early lunch and had decided to re-read a chapter she’d read a few days ago when Harry came in and relieved her of that. Now, they were having quite a pleasant conversation and she was finding herself smiling and laughing a lot more than she had been for the last few days. She wondered why he had chosen to sit with her of all people, but then she realized that he probably felt more comfortable around her than he did with most of the other people in the Great Hall currently. After all, she wasn’t sitting there questioning him about the Dark Lord or the things he had seen during the summer, and she wasn’t drooling and staring at him while he talked. That would annoy just about anyone.
She smiled at Harry’s comment about Ron, knowing just how true it really was. “Oh believe me, I know,” she responded, shaking her head. Her brother really was what one would call a bottomless pit, and it was rather amusing growing up when he would be up for seconds before anyone else was even finished their first plate. “Fred and George are pretty bad too though. You haven’t seen them in action,” she said with a laugh, recalling how the twins used to eat off each others’ and other family members’ plates during their mealtimes at the Burrow, back when they actually lived there. Combined, Ron and the twins were horrible and the complete opposite of Harry, who didn’t appear to eat nearly as much. That, too, always got an amusing reaction when Ginny watched her mother practically dump food on his plate when he visited. She smiled at his mock surprise and shrugged. “For all I know, it could be a bad thing,” she teased, blushing slightly at his next sentence. “You would?” she said, blinking in disbelief. 'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
Harry blinked, looking at the group of girls that had just walked past them. He hadn't missed the glares and the jealous looks that they had given Ginny. He frowned slightly as his emerald eyes followed them. A quick glance around told him that the rest of his would be fan club weren't around. Whether they were currently in class or if they were enjoying their free period elsewhere, Harry neither knew nor cared. He hated the lot of them; the things they felt for him only being superficial. They only cared about him because of what was bring written in the Daily Prophet. They had been the same ones that had shunned him for attempting to warn everyone that the Dark Lord had come back only the previous year. He looked back at Ginny as the group of girls went further down the hall than what they usually would have had he been sitting alone; and he was extremely thankful for that. He smiled lightly at Ginny, nodding his head towards the girls. “Sorry about that... They're a bit annoying.” he said to her. A bit was an extreme understatement. Harry wasn't sure if he knew anyone that was more annoying than them.
It wasn't always that Harry was without either Ron and Hermione. He sometimes felt that his friends were trying to be his body guards instead of his best friends. And because he felt that they were trying to protect him; smothering him actually, his temper was sometimes lost with them. He knew they only meant well for his safety, but after last year he wasn't to keen on having added protection. The Ministry and the Order were making sure he was well protected. He didn't see why he needed it from his best friends. So he was actually enjoying the time alone he had from the two. For one, he probably wouldn't have been able to sit here and speak freely with Ginny. Okay, so Maybe Hermione would have let him; but not Ron. He would have butted in and started a conversation about something that probably would have been extremely stupid. Or rather, something Harry would have found extremely stupid at the present time because of what he'd interrupted. Harry loved Ron as a brother... but he had to agree with Hermione on quite a few things about Ron... none of which were probably pleasant.
Harry shook his head slightly. He couldn't see how Ron or his brothers could possibly eat so much! To be honest, it was... revolting? Harry wasn't sure if that was the word he was looking for or not, but he was pretty sure it was close enough. Just the thought of eating all that food made Harry a bit queasy, but then again... he was pretty sure that if he had had proper meals while growing up, that would have seemed normal to him too. “I don't think I could ever eat that much food. Although, it's not for lack of your Mum trying. I consider it an accomplishment when my Muggle clothes start fitting properly without a belt and feel a bit snug. Mind you, my Muggle clothes all belonged to my cousin Dudley at one point, so that really is an accomplishment.” he said. The only really clothing he owed that were bought specifically for him were his Hogwarts clothing; and that was because he actually bought them himself. But everything else he owned clothing wise, including his sneakers, had once belonged to his cousin Dudley.
Seeing her blush caused a small one to appear on his own features; he shifted slightly in his seat. “Well, Yeah. If you think about it, it's really logical, isn't it? You wouldn't bore me to death with some stuff you 'read out of a book' and you wouldn't be sitting around complaining about 'lack of food' twenty-four seven. And if I really did have to choose between Ron and Hermione, I'd go with Ron simply because I couldn't sit around long enough for Hermione to read something up in a book. But if Ron were the case I'd still choose you because.... well, let's face it; you're the better looking one.” he said with a small, sheepish smile. He hadn't been lying when he said she was the better looking one. In Harry's opinion, she was the best looking girl at Hogwarts... but she didn't need to know that.

~ ♛ ~ IN YOUR HEAD, IN YOUR HEADT H E Y A R E F I G H T I N G~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ ❀ ~ When Ron first laid eyes on his schedule, he was overjoyed to see that he had more free periods then he had classes. He was only taking the required classes for Auror training and surprisingly that wasn't many. And there was no doubt he used each of those free period to sleep, eat and play Quidditch, never study. After all, when did Ron study? Well, when Hermione made him because she refused to help him cheat his way through assignments. Though she would always give him pointers and little snippets to add to his essay to make it better. It was quite obvious that without Hermione helping him, he would seriously be failing out of Hogwarts. He wondered idly as he made his way down from the Gryffindor Common Room if she had just stayed a Muggle, if she didn't show any signs of magic at a young age.
He chuckled, he knew exactly. He be down a best friend and a current crush. He had given up denying the fact that he felt something towards Hermione as the year progressed. There was no way these feelings were going away, and everyday she did something to make his heart skip a few beats before returning back to normal. But he hadn't seen her at all today, she had classes all morning. He never asked if she even had a free period, knowing Hermione probably not. But after third year she learned that too many classes, even with a time turner, is just too much work. He could barely understand her being there one minute and then the next she wasn't, even when she explained the time turner to him. But as he made his way down the corridor, watching people shift from class to class, he wondered if he would be eating lunch alone today.
But as he walked into the Great Hall, he saw Ginny and Harry sitting together, Harry watching as a small group of his fan girls passed by. At one point, Ron was slightly envious of the attention his best friends was getting from the girls. But now, he was glad he was just the Chosen One's bets friend. They were upright vicious at times, and by the looks they were giving Ginny, he knew they could be a lot worse. He wandered slowly over to his sister and Harry, as they had yet to see him approach. They were talking, he could see Ginny blushing... he knew well that her crush for his best friend hadn't disappeared over the years, but it had matured for sure. But it was the look that Harry was giving her back is what confused Ron. Did he like her or something? That was a funny though. Ron chuckled to himself as he walked over to Harry sitting beside him. "Hey you two." he said with a smile on his face.

* SHE WAS YOUNG BUT NOT NAÏVE ! always wise beyond her years - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Ginny watched Harry as he regarded the group of giggling girls that had just passed them. She knew he hadn’t missed the looks she was getting from each and every girl as they walked by, and she shook her head at their level of immaturity. Harry’s eyes followed the girls until they were out of sight, and then she watched as he surveyed the remainder of people inside the Great Hall, probably trying to make sure nobody else in his “fanclub” were around. Ginny had no idea how it felt to have people constantly following her and glaring at anyone she was giving attention to that wasn’t them, but she imagined that it was quite irritating sometimes. They were only paying attention to him now because he had been confirmed as the Chosen One and his ramblings about the Dark Lord’s return had also been confirmed. Before that, most people had shunned him and his word, talking behind his back and thinking that he hadn’t noticed. Ginny herself had been among the few who had actually believed him prior to seeing the Dark Lord for herself last year at the Ministry, and she was one of the few who had stood by him until the rumour was confirmed. When Harry apologized to her for the looks she was getting, she simply shrugged. “Don’t apologize, I’m not bothered by it,” she said warmly, giving him a smile and shrugging off his apology. She was used to getting looks like that because had apparently gotten quite popular with the guys around school, and she really just thought nothing of it anymore. “At least they’re gone now though,” she said, knowing he’d be glad for that. Ginny had never really pictured that she and Harry would have grown so close, but she was glad that they had. It had taken her quite a while to learn how to relax around him rather than run away in nervousness and not be able to say anything to him. She had spent long nights with Hermione in her room whenever the girl came to stay at the Burrow, and had finally taken her friend’s advice about forcing herself to relax around the green-eyed Chosen One. She wasn’t used to seeing him without Ron and Hermione since the three of them seemed to be sort of a package deal, so it had surprised her when he’d joined her solo. It was a pleasant surprise, and she had welcomed the company gratefully. Until Harry had arrived, she had been horribly bored, and now that they had been talking for the last little while, she was content. It was good to know that she and Harry could talk freely like this without worrying about anyone else; well, except for maybe Dean, but she would deal with him later if he happened to see her talking to Harry and try to start a fight about it. She honestly didn’t care about what her boyfriend thought about her friendship; she and Harry were friends, there was nothing more to it and she would make sure Dean knew that if it was ever questioned. So far, he hadn’t so it was alright for now. She could see Harry thinking deeply, and she was sure he was trying to visualize the picture she had just painted for him of her brothers stuffing their faces. It still amazed her how much those boys could eat, though she always found it amusing threatening to stab their hands with her fork if they tried to steal anything off her plate or eat everything before she got a chance to have some too. For someone like Harry who probably didn’t eat very good meals growing up, the thought of stuffing his face was probably revolting to him, and Ginny didn’t blame him. She herself found it revolting sometimes, and she had grown up with large, proper meals. “Trust me, I can’t either. Those three really do amaze me. And hey, if Mum knew that then she’d be extremely pleased,”[/color[ she responded, nudging Harry’s arm playfully. “It might get her to stop trying to force-feed you more than you can handle,” she teased. It was probably true, though, since her mother was always worried about Harry’s appetite. It was like he was just another son in the household, and sometimes it made Ginny feel like he was just another older brother. However, that wasn’t true since she had harboured feelings for him that went beyond that in the past. Now, she had a boyfriend and wasn’t sure how she felt about Harry. She noticed a small blush to cross Harry’s cheeks when one crossed her own, and she was glad to see that she wasn’t the only one the comment had done that too. She wasn’t sure what to make of the comment, but she knew she shouldn’t read into it so she didn’t. He was probably just teasing her like a friend would normally do and there was nothing more too it. That was how it was for the two of them, and that was what she had grown used too. She smiled warmly at Harry, pleased and flattered by his comment. “Well, that’s true. I’d probably spend the entire time trying to fashion a broom out of one of the trees so that we could escape. Or we’d just talk about things that interest both of us,” she said cheerfully. “Oh, you think I’m good looking do you Harry? Good to know,” she teased. Before either of them could say anything else, however, she heard footsteps approaching and looked up to see that Ron had joined them. “Hey Ron, got a free period as well?” she said, giving her brother a smile and wondering how Harry would react to her brother’s arrival. 'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR OH BABY, YOU MAKE ME JUST WANNA YOU MAKE ME WANNA PIN YOU DOWN AND TEAR YOU APART
He shouldn’t be feeling anything he felt for Ginny. He was pretty sure somewhere in the universe, his feelings for her were illegal or something. Every time he thought about it… about a them, he felt as if he were dirtying her some way or another. He wasn’t exactly sure how or why he felt that way; he just did. Maybe it was because he actually felt something for her now… his feelings had grown into something that was most defiantly not brotherly love. If he had imagined a 'Him and Ginny' scenario any other year before this one, he was positive that he could imagine it just fine… maybe even laugh at it. Now however, it made his stomach do flips as his heart skipped a few beats. These sensations were always quickly followed by a dropping sensation in his stomach; as if the bottom of it had vanished completely.
Harry figured that there were two possible reasons for this. The first one being the simplest and most obvious reason anyone alive could think of. She was Ron’s sister. And he was defiantly sure that somewhere in the unwritten book of Best Mate’s, it specifically stated that little sisters were OFF limits. Just how questioning ones fear or families or anything else personal that wasn’t already given was off limits (although family wise Ron really didn’t mind sharing. And if Ron wouldn’t speak, any of the other Weasley children would). It was a betrayal of trust to Ron to have these feelings for the youngest Weasley family member. Even though Ron wouldn’t say it out loud, Harry knew that he expected Harry to look out for her; something Harry would do even without being asked. The Weasley’s were his family; he’d do anything for them.
The second reason, and the one Harry felt guided his emotions and thoughts now-a-days more than anything, was the Prophecy Dumbledore had told him about. He was a marked Man. He had always been marked for death; even before his birth. It was only just set in stone the night Voldemort had attempted to kill Harry himself as an infant… the night his parents had died; unknowingly protecting him with their love. Even if he were able to have a relationship with Ginny (which he wasn’t because she was RON’S sister and DEAN’S girlfriend) it wouldn’t have been fair to her. Sure, he was positive she would understand him and what he had to do… Ginny was different from other girls like that… But that wouldn’t stop the pain he was inflicting on her. The pain he would knowingly cause.
He brought his attention back to Ginny, feeling her nudge him slightly with a grin on her face. Even though he had been preoccupied with other thoughts, he knew exactly what they were talking about. How he was able to split his attention like that, he wasn’t entirely sure… but he had managed it. “I don’t think your Mum will be satisfied until my jeans snap completely. I’ve just learned to deal with it really.” He said to her. He felt his blush deep when she jokingly asked if he found her good looking. He was about to open his mouth to find some way of retorting (without completely making a fool of himself and while being honest and not giving his feelings away… Merlin that would have been difficult) but was saved from answering by Ron’s arrival on his other side. Harry was extremely relieved at his friend’s timing… however he was also extremely agitated as well. He wanted more time alone with Ginny… It seemed as soon as he got ANY time with her, someone was either calling one of them off or joining them. Honestly, what did he have to do to get some quality time with her?! However, he was spared from answering her question, which pleased him. It effectively out-weighed his annoyance level. “Hey Ron. Where’d you disappear to?” he asked.
