- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It had been a long morning. Ron only had one class that morning with Harry in the middle of the morning, giving him a break after breakfast and a two hour break after his class. Harry had other things to do that day, and of course Hermione's schedule was full, so he decided to write to his Mum, informing her how the school year was going so far. One of their agreements to allow them to come back was that Ron would have to write at least once a month, and he was already finding it to be a nuisance. He said how his classes were going, how Harry and Hermione were doing, how Quidditch was going as well, but found trouble writing one part of it. How was his sister doing?
It wasn't like they avoided each other, on the contrary, Ginny had been known to come and sit with him and his friends a lot more lately. He wondered how she and Dean were doing, he hadn't seen a lot of them two of them hanging out. Did they still even go out? Although he used to talk to Dean all the time, when he found out that he was dating his sister they sort of drifted a bit. Now it was just an awkward glance at one another when they went to bed. He didn't really want it to be like that, but for some reason which they couldn't understand it was. Though there wasn't a word to Ginny about how awkward it had become, it could but a complex on her.
Once he finished the letter it, he sealed it and figured he had loads of time to mail it and head on to his next class. Not even bothering to take his books, Ron put the letter in his back pocket of his trousers and pulled his robe over his shoulders, exiting the boys dorm. He wondered idly to himself as he made his way to the owlery if Hermione had a free period with him today. He was having some trouble in Transfigurations, and she was always top of their class. Maybe the two of them could go the library or something and jut hang out. He felt his ears heating up over the idea and shook his head. What was getting into him? Hermione was his best friend, nothing more.
He walked up the steps of the owlery, feeling the cold already hitting Hogwarts. He shivered and quicken his steps, wanting to get back inside as quickly as possible. The thing he hated about the owlery was that there was over a hundred owls hooting at any given time, and finding Pig was always an interesting feet. "Pig!" he called out, sighing as the owl didn't come right away. He hated when he and Harry would come up together, and he would just call Hedwig and the owl would arrive. But Harry didn't have many letters to send anymore, not with Sirius.. he stopped his thoughts there as Pig finally flew down wobbly. "Bring this to Mum." he mumbled to the owl, tying the letter onto the owls leg.
Once Pig flew off, Ron exited out of the owlery with quick steps, rubbing his ears for warmth as he stepped back in the castle. He heard the clock chime through the castle, signalling the end of class. One more hour until lunch. Maybe Hermione did have a free period, and maybe she could help him with Transfigurations. Deciding the best place to find her was the library, Ron headed to the library, taking a brisk walk as he made a loud entrance. The librarian gave him a stern look and he fled behind a bookcase, beginning a slow search for any one he knew now, hiding out from the librarian who he was sure would hex him if she saw him again.

Summer had gone by so fast that Ginny felt like she’d barely had a vacation. Between the summer homework, the interrogation from her brothers, and all the other chaos around the Burrow, it felt like she hadn’t had time to herself in quite some time. Of course, she had finished the homework early in the summer to give herself more time to spend doing more enjoyable things, but every time she sat down to do something she wanted to do, her brothers would pounce and start interrogating her again. It was really starting to become a huge bother, but it was hard to express her annoyance because she knew they were just taking their roles as older brothers seriously. At least Fred and George weren’t as bad as Ron, who took every opportunity he could to express his displeasure with the fact that she was dating one of his close friends and complain about how he’d have to spend countless nights in the dormitory at school listening to Dean go on about her. Ginny had learned that the best way to get herself through those times was to just ignore her brother and let him ramble on, because he’d grow tired of it after a while and leave her alone until the next time. It was like a cycle between them, Ron complained, Ginny pretended that she was listening and occasionally shot a comment back at him, then it would cease for a while until the next time he decided to step into his role as older, protective brother. Fred and George were a different story, still doing the same thing but in a way that was much less gloomy. At least when they bothered her about it, they did it in a way that suggested they were happy for her, but would step in and hurt Dean if he hurt her or tried to do something that would ruin her honour. At those, Ginny just shook her head, knowing that Dean would never do anything like that to her. He wasn’t that kind of person at all, which was why she was dating him in the first place.
Now that they were back at school, Ginny figured that she would be seeing less of her brother, Harry and Hermione since they were in different years and had different schedules, but she was surprised to find that so far, she was actually seeing them more often than she had in the previous years. Most of the time it was in the common room during breaks or after classes and meal times, and it was always amusing to Ginny to watch as Lavendar Brown fawned over her brother whenever he was close. The fifteen year old wasn’t sure if Ron noticed it or not, or if he was just ignoring it, but either way it was highly amusing and Ginny found herself laughing to herself every time she saw the older girl. She couldn’t help but wonder if maybe something was going to happen there, though for Hermione’s benefit she kind of hoped it didn’t because she knew her friend would be crushed. No matter what, though, Ginny wanted her friend to be happy but she also wanted her brother to be happy, and would proceed to harass him about Lavendar if he ended up going out with her – or any girl for that matter. It was only fair since he bothered her so much about Dean and took every opportunity to express his extreme displeasure that she was now dating one of his friends. Actually, she wasn’t even sure if she could call them that anymore, since Dean had told her that Ron seemed to have drifted from him ever since she agreed to date him. It would serve him right, and if he said something she would be free to call him a hypocrite. Despite those flaws, however, she knew that he was just trying to look out for her and she appreciated it even if she didn’t always show it.
As these thoughts flowed through her mind, Ginny made her way towards the library, intending to sit down at an empty, quiet table to finish up an essay for DADA. It wasn’t due for another few days, but since she knew that the homework would keep piling up, she was trying to use her time efficiently and wanted to get the essay out of the way. As she headed through the wooden double doors, she repositioned her bag on her shoulder to make it more comfortable then stopped just inside the doorway to scan the large room and find an empty table at which to sit. As her brown eyes searched, they landed on a familiar head of red hair heading towards the back of the room, and Ginny smirked before making her way towards Ron. She laughed as she heard Madam Pince scolding him for being too loud, and stealthily snuck towards him. Once she was close enough to him and was sure he hadn’t heard her, she closed the distance between them and reached forward to tap him on the shoulder. “I thought you were allergic to the library”
she said cheerfully, knowing that her teasing words and gentle tap would startle her brother. [/blockquote][/blockquote] words 879! tagged ron! outfit hogwarts uniform! outfit PANIC! ITS LAUZ @ CAUTION notes blah blah rahr

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - the countdown begins to destroy ourselves WHO'S GOING TO FIGHT FOR WHAT'S RIGHT? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Of course Ron knew where the library was, he had to if he was best friends with Hermione. There was a time in his first year that she would smack him with a book when he asked where the library was, and now he had learned where it was and the quickest ways to it, so there was no need to worry about him getting lost. It was just he never found it a good use of time, he would study for a solid ten minutes most before he became extremely bored and decided he would rather spend his time in the common room doing nothing then studying. Besides, he found it much easier to study in the busy common room then the quite library, if that made any sense at all. Maybe it was the added pressure that fuelled him on.
Either way, today the library was packed with students. It was that time of year where professors seemed to like the idea of getting their students stressed out and put piles of piles of homework on them when they knew other teachers were doing the same. Did they like to torture students? He knew Flich loved it, but he was only the caretaker. It was probably some sort of test, to see if they would handle the stress of being and adult wizard, or some load like that. Ron just wished there wasn't so much, his hand got tired of rewriting Harry's essays, since Hermione hated to share almost all her homework.
Ron rubbed the back of his neck, a common occurrence when the word 'try-outs' appeared in conversation. There was no hiding his nerves for them, he was absolutely petrified he wouldn't make it, then McLaggen would get them over him, and that would utterly crush him. Especially since he had asked him about Hermione. So he'd have it all then, Keeper over him, a year above him, and probably would keep Hermione interested for some time. Ron curled his toes together, but said no a word, it looked more likes his nerves were acting up. "I was planning on going out later, actually, But first I was going to see if I could find Hermione in here, since this is like her second home." Ron snorted, getting a loud shush sent to him by a table of seventh years.
He groaned at her reminded of how judging their mother was. "Hell, I didn't think of that. I mentioned you a little bit but she'll probably think I'm deserting you or something. Bloody brilliant." he groaned, running his hand through his hair. It was odd from them to be growing up and becoming different people. For most of their childhood, Ginny and him were attached to the hip so to speak. Always the victims of Fred and George, they would always try and gang up on them. But when the troublemakers were off to school and it was just Ron and Ginny left at the house, they became pretty close, despite their bickering from time to time. It was odd not being as close to her as before.
He shrugged his shoulders. "I've been practising whenever I can for the try outs, and Harry's off with Dumbledore most of the time, discussing stuff. So sometimes it's only me and Hermione in the common room hanging out, but I don't want to bother her when she's studying, so I just kinda wander around the castle." he said nonchalantly. Another reason was that Lavender Brown was being awfully nice to Ron lately, and Hermione absolutely hated her for some reason or another, Ron could never tell why on those things. "So besides being a good student and an even better Quidditch player," Ron teased, a grin on his face. "How are you and Dean? Still going strong?"

The library was almost completely full, which was not uncommon for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was the easiest place to go and find some peace and quiet so that concentrating on homework was easier, but sometimes there were younger students lurking about doing nothing except giggling and talking. Luckily, Ginny had never had to deal with them but as she passed a corner where group doing just that, she turned to face them and gave them a look of disapproval. Spotting her Prefect badge, they immediately quieted and the fifteen year old continued on her way to go and scare her brother. He was fidgety and jumpy by nature, though she figured he would be used to things like this by now, and she smiled in amusement while she waited for him to finally notice that she was there. When he did, she smiled sweetly at him when he glared at her, about to yell at her but obviously afraid of being yelled at himself. She smiled in amusement as he rolled her eyes at her, thinking nothing of it because she was so used to it by now. It was a typical exchange between the two siblings where Ginny swore it was her adorable puppy face that made him stop himself from getting mad at her and Ron arguing that that wasn’t the case at all. They had an interesting relationship that way, and Ginny wouldn’t have traded it for anything in the world. Without the rolling eyes and sweet smiles, their relationship just wouldn’t be the same.
She stared right back as he gave her a death glare, waiting to see what he would say and preparing her response according to the typical reactions she got from her brother when she did things like that. She laughed at his comment, then raised an eyebrow. “You and me both,”
she muttered unhappily, not wanting to be reminded of how much time she’d been spending in the library lately. “Unfortunately, yes,” she answered, rolling her eyes. “The last of it for a few days, thankfully, but that doesn’t make it any more thrilling. And what are you doing in here? I figured you’d be outside practising for tryouts,” she asked, knowing just how nervous her brother was about them. They were still a little while away, but that didn’t make it any easier on the people hoping to get on the team, especially Ron. Ginny was afraid for her brother’s sake, and hoped that he’d be able to cut his nerves long enough to make it through the tryouts and get on the team. She knew how important it was to him, and she was going to try and help him if she could. She watched him as he casually leaned against the bookshelf behind him, envisioning a rather funny picture in her mind of it falling over and him falling with it, but the possibility of that actually happening was zero to none so she waved it away and regarded her brother again. When he mentioned that he’d sent a letter to their mother, Ginny cringed until he said that she hadn’t been mentioned very much. In a way, she was glad that her brother wasn’t exactly aware of how she spent her time at school, but at the same time she found it strange as well. It wasn’t that he was always completely involved in her business or anything, but she figured he would have at least mentioned how much time she was spending with Dean. He had, on more than one occasion, expressed a great dislike of her dating someone he had once been friends with, and she was half expecting letters he sent home bearing requests that she be sent home and locked away to keep all of the boys away from her. According to Ron, she was too popular for her own good, and while she could see where he might get that impression, she still rolled her eyes every time he said it. So, she was a bit surprised when he said that she hadn’t been mentioned very much. “Oh Merlin, you know that she’s going to hound you for not mentioning me very much now don’t you? She’ll think you’re neglecting your duties as my older brother! she responded, a teasing and playful tone evident in her voice. They had been growing apart, but that was common for siblings once they got older, and though Ginny was upset that it was happening it wasn’t like they never saw each other or anything; they just had different things going on in their lives at the moment. “Oh, you know, being a good student and practising to become an even better Quidditch player than I already am,” she teased again. :And what about you? You don’t seem to be hanging around Harry and Hermione much lately; everything alright?” she asked, knowing that everything was probably fine but wanting to make sure anyway. Ginny was suddenly re-thinking her decision to come to the library, but not for any particular reason. She had just gotten so caught up in startling her brother and talking to him that now, she was wondering whether it was necessary to continue on her way to the back tables at all. She had, after all, only gone in there because she didn’t have anything else to do and couldn’t locate anyone to hang out with for a bit, and now that she had found Ron, the library trip seemed quite pointless. Of course, she wasn’t sure if her brother was planning on sticking around talking to her for an extended period of time, but for the time being it was nice to have something to do besides homework. After all, Hogwarts wasn’t just about studying and homework, it was about enjoying free time as well. Plus, it would probably be better to do her work in the common room later on, since it seemed that a lot of the student population seemed to be currently occupying the large, cavernous room. It would be difficult to work with all of the people surrounding her, since the redhead was used to working without many people around to distract her, so she decided that as soon as this conversation with Ron was over, she would head back upstairs and do her homework there.
She was still surprised that she had found Ron in the library, and she assumed it was because he was probably looking for Hermione, or maybe hiding from Lavendar. Either way, Ginny was surprised and did not try to hide it. She knew that Ron would not appreciate her surprise because he’d probably consider it an insult to his intelligence, but when one was hardly ever seen in a place and then suddenly appeared there, it was a common reaction. It was the same reaction Ginny had gotten from Ron when she’d first expressed an interest in Quidditch, and she planned to point that out to him if the need for it arose. She watched as her brother rubbed the back of his neck, something she had learned to be a sign of anxiety within him, and she figured it was because she had mentioned the try outs. She smiled when she heard her brother confirm her suspicion that he was in there to find Hermione, and playfully grinned at him. “I haven’t seen her in here, but then again I haven’t been here long. Need her to check over an essay or something?”
she teased, amused by the conversation. Ginny rolled her eyes when Ron groaned, thinking that he had obviously not taken her comment the way it was meant to be taken – as a joke. “Ron, I was only kidding! I don’t think Mum expects us to be attached at the hip here,” she said calmly, resting a hand on his shoulder to cease his worries about the wrath of their mother. She was a judgemental person sometimes, but Ginny knew that Mrs. Weasley didn’t expect her children to hang around each other and know all of each other’s business. Sure, the two of them had been close when they were growing up and they still were, but their mother didn’t expect them not to blossom into their own people or to not develop different interests. Children all had to grow up eventually, after all. It was strange that she and Ron were drifting, but she knew that neither of them would let it go so far as to completely cut each other out of their lives. They had some mutual friends, so that would be impossible. She nodded in understanding as Ron explained his lack of time around Hermione and Harry lately. She knew how that was, but she wasn’t bothered by it as much as Ron seemed to be. Ginny knew how to balance school work and social time so she wasn’t left without time to spend with her friends, even with homework and Quidditch practises. “Oh, well that’s understandable then. Hermione really should take a break from all that studying one day though,” she commented. She raised her eyebrow at her brother’s question, knowing that it was coming eventually. “Could be better, could be worse,” she said, shrugging it off like it wasn’t a big deal. The last thing she wanted her brother to know was how much she and Dean had been fighting lately.
